A 1946 survivor in Balwyn

My grandparents house, as it was in 2019, and as it was possibly c1989, after my grandmother died- and I discovered the original 1946 plans amongst family papers ! Vincent Ward, a Collins street architect – who produced something modest (postwar ‘12squares’ restrictions), modern, and a little bit Georgian. They never changed it, and maybe much of the furniture was late 40s too ! The photos make it look a little odd, like still lifes, but then it was a terribly neat house. My memories are of occasional meals (elbows off the table!), but mostly being in the garden or kitchen. Very surprised it is (or was) still there, with mini French Provincials filling the streets of Balwyn. Corner Gordon and Percy Streets.
