Another #MelbourneSavingsBank by my favourite bank architects #WightandLucas, built 1891. I suspected as much from the chunky sort of #Queenanne-ish style as seen on their other banks; this is one I didn’t know about.

There’s another even more elegant Victorian era ex Bank building at the cnr. of Victoria Street and Punt Road. Near that hideous over sized type metal bird sculpture. That that once elegant building in such a prominent position has been allowed to be so vandalised is symbolic of how little so much of Melbourne’s fine architecture has been appreciated by so many.
