The delightful and interesting #Southwold at 57 #AclandStreetStKilda; built in 1915 as a #maisonette, one independent flat above another, with the two entry doors side by side in the inset porch, a type popular in the UK at the time. (The pair of conventional Edwardian houses next door were built at the same time).
There’s almost no places like this in Melbourne, where independent front doors were always a priority. Sad to see it’s just been completely done-over, now as one house, and they even completely changed the doors ! I took a photo of them in May last year. Looks like an ordinary double door now. And of course everything’s dark grey and white.
Oh, it just sold last week ! Hmm a developer thing, thought at least it was someone’s dream home; though appears it was already one house in 2016.
