Looks like staff orientation for the #EsplanadeHotel – they’re going to need them with 4 floors of bars and restaurants and live music too !
There’s nice classical features around the door which I don’t remember, they’ve even kept the cracked I suppose 60s terrazzo stairs, and the new glass roof over the front bar is in place.
Check out #TheEspy and other links to see the interiors – all a bit #oldeworlde, but I’m not complaining that they’re filling it with antiques and old books etc. The outside is still white, which is ok I guess but I am a fan of restoring when you can, and it was probably ochre, a popular colour (in line wash) from the 19thC right though to the 30s. The front additions here and bits of the inside date from the 1920s, when it was Carlyon’s Hotel. The original building was designed by #Smith&Johnson.
