The impressive and unusually detailed original buildings of the #GordonTechnicalCollege in #Geelong. Looks like all one piece but actually three stages – far left by #AlexanderDavidson in a rather special ‘#ScotsJacobeanRevival’ was the first building of the college in 1887; the middle bit by another architect, EM Blake, similar but not as ornate in 1891, then the closest bit is 1916 (top floor added 1961 rather spoils it). Also, never knew, but #TheGordon was named after General Gordon, the ‘hero of Khartoum’ who died bravely defending that outpost of Empire in 1885 (played by Charlton Heston in the 1966 movie).
