The Waldorf Hotel, Edwardian St Kilda style.

Repost 2019: Diatribe warning – this Edwardian era hotel has been compromised so much if it was up for #heritagelisting now it wouldn’t make it. Built in 1911 as the Warldorf by local developer/ builder #JRDaley, who built the Majestic Mansions next door in 1913; very sought after for decades, but after the 1950s like much of #StKilda they eventually became cheap boarding houses, finally closing in 1989 amid controversy. In 1992 all but the front section of both was demolished, the Dane happened to the Majestic, and the whole area behind became the low-rise Majestic Apartments. Probably those multiple #domnerwindows happened then, glazing in the balconies and entrance, and allowing structures in front either side for retail uses. I think the shops were further extended more recently. Not sure when the right hand one (Fitzrovia) lost its #baywindow, but the left hand shop still has it, marooned inside.
