High Victorian terraces, W S Law does it again

Spotted these fine #terracehouses in #KerferdRoad, #AlbertPark a little while ago, can’t miss them really, a set of 5, with a tower on the middle one! Built 1882-1892, designed by one of my fave #highvictorian architects, Walter Scott Law, who did the nearby #AlbertParkCoffeePalace. Lots of elaboration here, and unusually for terraces, done in a rhythm, ABCBA, the A’s with triangular pediments, and typical #castironlace, the Bs with arched ones and unusual lace (that looks like actual lace !), and C of course with a tower and another diff lace. They also feature #encaustictiles in bands, a delightful touch. Shows that Albert Park had its share of very well-to-do. The central one is a bit grander inside, tiled floors and lovely stair (and for rent for $2300/week), while the others are arranged more typically, with the stair parallel instead of sideways.
