Art Deco bank chamber.

The #bankchamber of the Western House branch of the #BankofAustralasia in Collins and William was pretty stark originally, a kind of very #strippedclassical, like the exterior. I think the counters are the original ones, but with vertical bits and a new top (it was timber) added, maybe in the 80s ? Which would make them one of the very few historic bank counters anywhere in Victoria (only others I know are in the Gothic Bank). They also added all those great hanging lights, based on the single one originally in the lift lobby, now gone (or moved here). Update : Im told the works were from about 1990, architect Peter Vaughan.
