Fantastic old sign in Bellair St, Kensington. A bloke jumped out of his car to tell me he knew the family ! Local legend apparently. Kensington Neighbourhood House tells me that : “Bill Pearce set up a plumbing business in the 1940s. The only gear he could afford was carried on his bike. By the turn of the century Bill was still here with a workshop out back.”. So untouched since the 40s ! I knew but forgot that phone numbers used to start with letters .
update : @melbourne_ghostsigns has found that the little shop was probably built in 1895, and was occupied by plumbers from 1900 onwards.
