Wyndham, St Kilda, 1927

Finally got a good shot of this fine elliptical #portico; part of Wyndham, a 1927 #blockofflats which has this portico as entrance and shared balcony overlooking their generous lawn, where I often see families with kids picnicking or even having parties. It faces another block that also has a side garden and entrance, creating a huge garden area which is very nice despite the hideous traffic of #PrincesStreetStKilda.

Update: it’s by fairly prolific flat architect #WHMerritt, and was described in a Herald article at the time as ‘late Georgian’ style, and had “fireproof garages’ and a tennis court (possibly where the flanking block of flats are). Merritt also did the very Art Deco block across the road, San Diego, nearly 10 years later.
