Walter Butler ‘bungalow’ in Toorak

Original post 22 March 2021:

These are only realestate pics, but im posting this house in #LansellRoad #Toorak, because in the 90s, when I was at the @nationaltrustvic, it was going to be replaced by flats, and @stonningtoncitycouncil wouldn’t act, then many years later I discovered that was still there and in fact restored rather well! By then it was protected as part of #heritageprecinct along the north side of Toorak Rd and a few properties down Lansell. Phew ! For sale again now. Interiors not protected, but who’d ruin them ? It’s 1916, by noted architect #WalterButler, a leader of the #ArtsAndCraftsMovement, hence its restraint and natural materials. The movement was also a bit eclectic, and the verandah of this house is described as Dutch or Indian Bungalow, which you can’t really see in the images. The last photo is from the Trust from the 90s.
