Original post 20 July 2018:
In the middle of #StKilda is the cute little c1855 #GothicRevival house hidden inside extensive gardens (I snuck in for this photo). It’s behind #ChristchurchStKilda, and known as the Bishops House, though that use was only in the 1980s-90s, it was actually built as the #vicarage, then from the 1880s leased out for 50 years, then it was a school, then childcare – anyway it’s been empty for ages; they now plan to covert to a large childcare centre, which would be fine except it involves a 25 space carpark behind the church which is currently a small park – and a playground! Update : Heritage Victoria said no, confirmed on appeal in late 2019, because it would involve too much alteration to the both the buildings and the setting of the church. Still seems to be empty though.
Update 21 July 2023 : it’s now leased as a vicarage to St Luke’s South Melbourne.
