Postmodernism. The #urbanruin of the #AllanPowellHouse, 1989, Victoria Street, #StKilda. #AllanPowell was the architect for this house for the Crigan family, but it was so well known, it was known by the architects name. I certainly knew it as that !
Always puzzled by it too, the faux ruin parts less prominent than the almost #neoclassical tiered, pergola’d decks, designed for creepers and vines, so I guess in the end it does look a bit like an overgrown ruin, or at least left over structural skeleton. Anyway, I do like it, prob very nice to live in.
And I just learned Powell himself bought had his office in the intact Victorian house next door. Drawing and old pic and interiors architecture.AU.
Update 2023: he died early last year.
