VillaCapri, another partly hidden #StKildaMansion on Grey Street but if you pop your phone over the fence … It was built in 1873, designed by noted architect #SydneyWSmith, and its practically unchanged – because it and the adjacent house have been owned by the #PresentationSisters since at least 1925, when they started a primary school, St Fintan’s College, in the two houses, which they ran till 1974. They sold the other one in the 90s, but still use this as their admin centre. Smith designed the adjacent house too, also 1873, when a larger estate was subdivided – the other house got a later high Victorian verandah. This one was owned by businessman Gavin Shaw, who amongst other things was a mayor of #StKilda in 1870s.
