Mother of God, Ivanhoe, designed by Mockridge Stahle and Mitchell, 1957. A groovy Modernist church that also has traditional elements, such as the coloured glass gabled end, and features a terrific canopy swooping out towards the street, though perhaps those two elements clash a bit. It’s pretty intact, except for the neatly glassed in part of the entrance, and some additions on both sides, but in nearly matching bricks. Due to be sold, no heritage protection, and the MoG primary school is also closing.
Update : it was sold in Dec last year, at the same time as the heritage listing process was happening, which was finalised April this year, now it’s for sale again (perhaps they didn’t like the idea of heritage ‘restrictions’). The interior is not listed, but all the lovely original features like lights, altar and sanctuary screen went long ago- 2nd last pic is from 2013 (via @mcmalexander, as are the early photos).
