Some photos from the Balwyn and North Balwyn heritage peer review – 18 places, mostly houses, going forward for heritage protection. I’m sure there’s more (or were more – some were proposed in 2015), but the good councillors at the @cityofboroondara have always been wary of the idea that modern can be heritage, or indeed wary of facing owner outrage at heritage listing anything that isn’t a Victorian mansion.
They’re also proposing to list Balwyn North Primary School, one of three in Victoria with hexagonal classrooms, designed by Percy Everett in his last days as Chief Architect at the Public Works Department.
