MMTB (Tramways Board) 1962 plan for putting some CBD trams underground – better than replacing them with buses, but I’m glad I don’t have to use an escalator to get from the tram stop to Myers. The plan also shows the city loop, but with statins in different spots. Actually looks a bit unworkable, how deep will they have been to get under or over the underground rail lines, and each other ? And would there have been just stairs in the footpaths ? And how many ramped entries taking up large parts of the streets around ? Plan from Public Records Office Victoria Facebook page.
