Abandoned house, Richmond

10 January 2024:

A famously abandoned house in Burnley Street Richmond. It’s been sold a number of times since 2012, so presumably empty since then ? (A nearby resident tells me possibly even before then). Most recently sold in 2020, with a permit for four townhouses, one of which is to retain the front portion of the house. It’s 1880s and pretty unremarkable, and possibly so far gone you’d be replacing more than 50%, which in heritage terms means not worth it, but on the other hand, it’ll come up nice, and it’s slightly unusual that it’s quite wide and set back, like a country house. Also I’m told by a follower that it’s got nice timber panelled dados and ceilings. Photos 2,3 from the real estate ad. Update March 2024: it’s been demolished, apparently they got a permit for that late last year.
