Nice block of flats corner Armstrong and Danks Streets, Middle Park. The curve and simple lines mean it must be 1930s or later, though the diamond pane windows give it a more traditional air. I guess they were trying to be both modern and homey. Still seems to be one owner, all renovated, but only lease ads, no sales. That’s all I know, except Mr & Mrs R Buck were at Bellbrae in 1930, and she died there in 1939, but it’s way too modern for 1930, so possibly the family sold it in 39, and then this was built, or the heirs built this themselves. From rental ads, they’ve all be renovated, not much character.
A follower tells me that in recent years it’s still one owner, who lives top floor rear.

Giving good doorway, Listowel, 381 Danks Street, Middle Park. The rest of the block is rather plain, but the lobby and apartment doors inside are pretty good. I also like the bold colours, blue and yellow, I’m sure nothing like the original, probably all ochre or cream or grey. No info I can find, but would be 1934-1940. Probably built on the back half of the Edwardian house facing Armstrong Street, which would explain the way it almost completely fills the lot, with windows in the side wall facing the small back yard of the house. Real estate photos show a nice fireplace and there’s a sun room.
