A dragon almost in flight ! This one at 48 Nimmo Street Middle Park is featured in the 1989 book on Federation houses “Towards the Dawn”. Not totally sure it’s original, too extravagant for this modest house, might be an early product of Gargoyles & Dragons who started in 1977 – but I emailed them and they said they were asked to copy it at some point, so I guess it is just a wild fantasy from c1910.
A bit further down there’s two with a more typical half dragon, pretty sure they’d be original. Also nearby there’s a plain house with a great arched entry, and another one with a rather unusual and elaborate gable, one of four the same but each with different gables / verandahs. Middle Park is largely Edwardian terraces and cottages, but there’s lots of variety with the standard features of red brick, terra cotta hip roofs and timber verandahs.
