25 June 2017:
Posing with the remnants of the London Tavern, Port Melbourne.
Update 2024: to be fair the pub was not outstanding architecturally; it was a 1941 remodelling of an 1861 pub, but rather top heavy, maybe it had some speed lines lost by the time of the 1967 B&W photo ? More of a loss was the Greyhound, demolished the same year. The @cityofportphillip tried to save both at the last minute, but both should have been listed before any threats. They should certainly have done a review to see if any more pubs weren’t protected, but havnt done that to my knowledge. Meanwhile the London was replaced by a little glassy hospo venue, it’s ok, just glad not 10 storeys…and seems nothing ever opened there, and it was up for sale late last year.

August 2024 : Just found this pic from the Port Melbourne Historical Society on FB from the 1947, and one from the 1870s from the SLNSW, so yes the tall corner parapet seems to have been added to the Victorian building without altering it too much, but a later alteration removed most detailing.
