Passed by this in Mitford Street Elwood a million times, and always wondered what it would be like living above a laundrette, and also, was it always there ? I don’t know the answer to that, but it turns out it’s not just a little block in nice variegated cream brick, but its twice the width facing Southey Street behind, with a nice curved bit and a courtyard, and it seems to all small one beds, rather ‘affordable’ at under $1/2mill. Also the Elwood heritage review tells me it’s called Deansgate, built in 1949, and designed by Bernard Evans as ‘minimum flats’ so I guess they always had the kitchen in the lounge room. Only first 2 pics are mine, from 2021.
