Charles Street #Carlton, off Kay Street. A little dead end mid block street, all modest Victorian houses, mostly brick, some timber #victorian #terraces and #bluestone pitched street – hasnt changed much for over a century ! Update 2024: a rare type of street for Carlton, but there used to be more, notably just over Rathdowne (see MMBW maps 1896), a couple accessed only via lanes, all cleared away for the housing commission estate in the 1960s. They had plans to clear much of Carlton ! Last image via @vic_archives.
