26 August 2020, updated 2024, only pic 1 is mine:
Nice half hidden early 20s house-style flats corner of Robe and Acland – it looks like a house because it’s actually a transformation of a Victorian home, adding a floor, turning it into three spacious flats – a spacious 2bed and a 1bed downstairs and a house sized 3/4bed upstairs via external stairs on the corner). I wonder why they didn’t just start again like so many others ? Or stop at 3, when they could have fit in 10? The answer is probably someone wanted a nice place to live in st kilda, didn’t need a house, so transformed this for themselves upstairs, and flats to let downstairs. They may even have inherited the house. Ps great shutters possibly still in the original #eaudenil colour, a v popular interwar shade. Found real estate photos from 2012, and from 2019 (after the first one which is 2012, they go 2012, 2019). A response in 2020 when I said ‘old lady furniture’ said it was indeed an elderly relative. Owner @thefengshuigirl in 2020 said she was working on putting a stair inside, and making it a multi-generational home.
