Little Lon pub

Little Lon pub

Repost 2013: Leitrim Hotel, 130 Little Lonsdale Street, built #1888, architect Henry Tolhurst. Funny little skinny building not at all like your usual pub. That’s probably because it’s in the once notorious #LittleLon area of the city, and only a few doors from another pub. It was all late night drinking, women selling their bodies, suicide, poverty, you get the picture. The facade is super intact probably because it was delicensed in 1908, then becoming a Chinese workshop, then offices in the 80s, now with an apartment upstairs. I took the pics in 2010 while working at the @nationaltrustvic when the little terraces two doors up were proposed to be demolished, and we successfully got the whole row heritage listed, and surprisingly the Leitrim got listed by Heritage Victoria. Now it’s even got a plaque.
