Here’s a new thing I quite like ! Called ‘Mermac’, it’s in Wimmera Place St Kilda, and sort of leans out towards the angled view of the water. Lots of nice curves, especially to the side, where it’s on a lane, lots of Neo-Brutalist wood patterned concrete, pale bricks, front garden, planted balconies, nice. It’s not greedily large, but I suppose they could afford not to be since it’s billed as luxury flats. Can’t find an architect, but it’s by McMullin Properties, interiors Hecker Guthrie. Usual too prominent services box. Seems to be angled back in order to preserve the views from the bay windows of the 1916 Wimmera apartments next door, which is very neighbourly. It was a little blond brick 50s house before. Update : I’m told the architects were Rachcoff Vella.
