Unusual elevated terraces on Charles Street, Fitzroy just up from Smith Street. One stair for both ! Steep stair access like this common in Sydney but not here. Part of a set of 6, c1870. Just why they’re so high I don’t know, though almost keeping the level of the first one on the Gore Street corner. Tiny blocks, the right hand one just three rooms plus bath. Found a pic from c1970, showing the railing is now a newish Victorian style one, only vaguely matching the surviving one next door. My photos from 2016, then real estate from 2018, think it’s been altered since then.
