A finely detailed bit of #GeorgianRevival with a Mediterranean feel on Fitzroy Street St Kilda. The thin variegated #tapestrybricks give it more texture than actual Georgian, and it’s got a little balustraded balcony poking out a bit. About 1934. Port Phillip heritage planner tells me it’s by architect Marcus Barlow (who’d just done the rather larger Manchester Unity).
And of course Di Stasio has been in the shop below since 1988, interior by Allan Powell. Access to the flats is via a driveway to the side, which has nice brickwork too. A friend from uni lived upstairs in the 80s, and in the 90s @gavinbrownartist lived there too, but I can’t find any current rental ads. Perhaps it’s all storage and offices for Di Stasio up there now.
