Timeless arches

Timeless arches

20 August 2025

A popular style for apartment projects lately is the white arched format, which I quite like – this one by @robmillsarchitects on High Street Armadale seems to be finished in bagged brick (though likely brick tiles). It replaced a pretty plain house, probably 1920s.

The format is pretty obviously based on the ‘Palace of Italian Civilization‘ in Rome, built 1938-42, for EUR, a grand exhibition planned for 1942 that never happened (and since 2015 it’s been the Fendi HQ). An unfortunate difference here is that the bottom arches are obscured by the very tall fence.

Inside it’s all white, like every interior everywhere, though the arch effect is nice.
