This house in Sorrett Ave Malvern is so neat and so unusual that I thought it was a recent attempt at Victorian Gothic, despite the prominent 1890 over the entrance – but no it is indeed authentic. Built for and presumably designed by George Jobbins, who did lots of classical banks. That tall gable with a battlemented porch is quite striking, and from real estate pics seems it’s an attic room accessed by a spiral stair ! Gosh.

It looks awfully church like. Maybe some recreationists do, but I’ve never seen anyone bother with the expense of a chimney. It is a very handsome house.
