Perfectly nice but not outstanding block of Deco flats in Eildon Rd St Kilda, representing the stripped back often plain designs built in the mini boom of 1939-40.
The notable thing here though is that it was built by a Jewish owner and the first occupants were recent Jewish refugees, and only female ones – the lower block next door obscured by planting was for the men (or the other way round). The architect is likely the designer of Poets Corner in Elwood, built in 1939 for the same owner. That info comes from a talk a couple of months ago at the St Kilda Historical Society, and in turn is partly based on a residents research; I didnt catch the actual names.
