#BrunswickFireStation, 1937, designed by #SeabrookandFildes, who did a few around town but this is the best. They got famous for introducing a bricky brand of European Modernism in 1934 with #NormanSeabrook’s design for #MacrobertsonGirlsHigh. This is bit more #ArtDeco by comparison, but very stripped back and rectangular. Thanks as usual to Grant for the drive and lunch !
#BrunswickFireStation had a pair of blocks of #flats out the back for the #firemen; after it got listed by #heritagevictoria in 2000, they promptly issued a permit to demolish one so that they would have room for new trucks, washing etc. Glad to see that it’s still a #firestation, so that permit wasn’t soon proved to be short sighted.
