Only ever driven down #GrandviewGrove, #Prahran, happened to be invited to a book launch, and goodness I can see why it’s called Grandview. One of those streets in a good suburb subdivided (in 1880) with big blocks so of course it’s lined with #VictorianMansions, or at least very large houses, not quite as big as the biggest mansions. I only snapped a few at one end. Very nice.

Grandview Grove in Prahran is really pretty grand ! Even in light rain a few weeks ago. It was subdivided in the early 1880s with large blocks and attracted the well off who built large houses – it’s one of the few streets that’s mainly mansions in Melbourne, like Sackville Street in Kew, and Shakespeare Grove in Hawthorn.
It’s a heritage precinct, but almost no details, so I can’t tell you exact dates or architects, but they range from typical cast iron verandah types to more interesting polychrome brick ones. Two are being renovated right now. Some have been replaced by post-war flats, or maybe in ex-gardens, and there’s a huge 1920s flat block with a garden on the curving bit.
