This very elegant door was built as the entrance to doctor’s rooms in 1934, when the #parisend of #CollinsStreet was where all the best doctors, dentists and specialists wanted to be. Built by the #NationalBankofAustralasia for themselves with rooms to let above the bank (now Prada) designed by #AandKHenderson in a lovely refined Georgian manner, proving that not everything in the 30s was Art Deco. In 1982 the women only #AlexandraClub bought the whole building, moving from their long time home on Collins and Russell (which was then gutted), which has saved the doors and the equally nice entry lobby and unique #enquiriesdesk (and possibly the lift?) from any updating.
