Im guessing this #CastIronVerandah in #RathdowneStreet #Carlton is original rather than an 80s/90s reproduction, judging from the moss. Interesting that A. it survived the wholesale removals of the 50s, and B. has posts slightly inset from each side. Nice to see the #CityOfMelbourne #CoatofArms there, not sure why or how that became a thing but it did. In fact that’s another clue, the cow and the whale are in different quadrants to the contemporary version. There are more original verandahs a few blocks up, just as dilapidated, with the posts on the kerb, very original, whereas here the kerb has been moved out a bit, so the bases are a bit submerged.
