Pink Lake Westgate Park

Pink Lake Westgate Park

So #WestgateParkLake has been pink for two months ! A bit of a #touristattraction, sort of #disastertourism, cos it’s only pink because of low rainfall and algae in a #saltlake environment, though not really a disaster I guess since the lake is #manmade anyway. #WestgatePark was first established in 1985 on the #WestgateBridge works site which had been a sand mine and an aerodrome, but it wasn’t properly maintained by the #MMBW, so not a lot of planting until a Friends group got going in the 2000s, which is why it hadn’t been worth going to till recently; the trees have a way to go yet….
