Albert Park Railway Station, 1889

Albert Park Railway Station, 1889

Original post 25 October 2019

#AlbertParkRailwayStation built 1889; in 1989 and now. When the #StKildaRailwayLine was converted to #lightrail, it was easier to build new low platforms, and to leave out the old stations. Which eventually got repurposed, which involved filling in the platforms with walls in #corrugatediron which looked ok for a while, but it’s been graffiti covered for ages, you can hardly see the buildings ! At least they’re still there.

This fantastic #castiron #fanlight of the #AlbertParkRailwayStation is hidden behind trees, in fact the whole building is just about. Apparently there’s a fine ceiling. Great #polychromebrick #Italianate style in general. The other building matches but in red brick, and simpler. This one is now a childcare, the other is a nursery.
