Fantastic FLW inspired church near Frankston, 1963

Another one that doesn’t disappoint! The #Langwarrin-Pearcedale Anglican Church, built in 1963, and designed by #WystanWiddows and David Caldwell. So pointy, angular, an A Frame, but souped up ! Even the door and the windows continue the angular theme. It’s not big but dominates this dusty intersection, set at 45*. You gotta wonder at how adventurous the congregation must have been, they said, ‘let’s go for it!’. Widdow’s churches are clearly influenced by #OrganicArchitecture, namely Frank Lloyd Wright, that stonework is straight from #TaliesenWest, especially his 1951 Unitarian Meeting House in Wisconsin, but this is a great interpretation.
