#Paragunyah, 168 Canterbury Road, Middle Park. A very striking and unusual house, c1898, but that’s all the Port Phillip Heritage Review has to say ! It has alternately square and circular columns, and seems to be missing a balustrade, or at least some urns. It’s far more Victorian than it’s date implies, but there seem to be a number of houses in the area the same date and retro style. Actually it reminds me of Spanish colonial houses, especially Cuba, but I’m sure that’s accidental.

Real estate images from 2005. The lead light windows and fireplace tiles are very c1900, but might not be original, in fact depicting palms trees seems very 80s.

The leadlight windows were what appeared to be a Nile or similar scene when I lived there in the late 50’s.
