22 August 2017:
I do love a good #HolgarAndHolgar! The 1975 Saade house in #BlackRock, elevated for beach views, with their fave flattened out #OscarNeimeyer curved T shaped supports. Built for a well to do Lebanese family who wanted modernism and glamour, they naturally turned to Polish born husband and wife team of John and Helen Holgar, whose architural output from the 50s on got more and more interesting. #HolgarandHolgar were known for the glamourous luxury interiors, within their flowing modernist lines (apparently they were nicknamed Vulgar & Vulgar). Found some blurry real estate shots of the interior from 2014 when it sold for $2.4 mill, which seems like a bargain now. Pleased to see it doesn’t appear to have changed, at least from the outside.

Update 22 Aug 2024 : bought in 2022 by someone who seems to have pretty much kept it intact, and lucky ticket holders for a @beaumaris_modern fashion show this Sunday will get you check it out ! The second bathroom pic is from their page, so it’s current. The house was finally heritage listed this year, phew. But not the interior, so I’m glad it’s in good hands, because two other glam Holgar houses in the last 10 years have been heavily altered inside.
