Clyde House, 1915, Collins Street, next to the Athenaeum, one of the numerous pre 1960 #tallthinfrontages you find in the CBD- and yet another Edwardian era design by #NahumBarnet, this one vaguely Art Nouveau, all one big bay window, with delightful carved decorations of thistles. Built as offices, in the 40s it also included ‘my ladies rest lounge’ with ‘leg bar and manicure bar’. Then in 1998 it was connected with the much wider warehouse behind, to which 4 floors were added, to create serviced apartments. Again suffers from being cheap small things, the front ones cut the front windows into lounge and bed; some rear ones have nice views west over the town hall. It’s now the Hotel Collins, central and pretty empty right now I guess (photos are from before refurbishment).
