What I think of as the dragon house, actually called Alton, 28 #StudleyParkRoad, #Kew, built 1905, but nobody knows the architect (possibly Christopher Cowper). I seem to recall seeing the dragon from a young age so maybe it’s not a 1980s creation like many of the others (update: it’s featured in ‘Towards the Dawn’, the best book on Edwardian houses, published 1989, which notes it as ‘the largest and finest terracotta finial in Australia’). This house is pretty wacky all round, check out the multiple roofs and the telescoping #gables on the side ! Very similar to a 1902 house in Cotham Road Kew by Robert Haddon, with his characteristic ironwork, sadly demolished (last 3 pics, Graeme Butler, early 1980s).
