Looks like 30s #creambrick #earlymodern flats in #StKilda – but actually it’s 1959 ! #BurnettLodge in Burnett St. Thanks to whoever did the wiki page on #MordechaiBenshrnesh, I can see that most of his projects pick up the ideas of 1920s European avant-guard, very plain rectilinear unadorned, I guess from his training in Tel Aviv in the early 30s no doubt by recently arrived architects from Germany etc. This block has a great common garden in front, which I remember as just open lawn, now it’s all lush, and there’s a communal roof too, with excellent views; those spaces make up for the fact that all the flats are small one beds, and mostly face rather narrow spaces to the sides and back.
