There’s quite a lot of mid century modern high-rise in #Toorak, which I didn’t realise, because most are a bit hidden in the leafy streets – this one in #OrrongRoad I’d only glimpsed, and it’s great ! It’s by #LesPerrott, built 1959, which makes it one of the earliest high rise flats in Melb. Check out that butterflyroof entry ! Some nice patterns in the cream brick, and jaunty orange panels in the balustrades. And looks like all the flats face north over a nice bit of garden, and it’s uphill a bit, so nice views (they’re not huge but go for over a $mill).
Update 2026:
Not included in the few post war places on the 2013 heritage review. And found a flat that sold in 2009 with good taste Toorak furniture and original kitchen and bathroom ! Earlier high rise – though none very high – include one right across the road, the year before, pic 14, and Stanhill is 1950, pic 15 and Chapel Lodge is also 1950, pic 16
