Ex pub in Fitzroy

Repost 2015:

Another former #fitzroypub the Leicester Arms in Leicester Street off Brunswick, and pretty bloody intact too. Probably cos it had a short life and just became a house I suppose. Appears in newspapers in 1872, which looks right, but God knows why they built it since its hidden down a side street and 100m from hotels on #brunswickstreet both north and south, but I guess grog was big business in #workingclass #oldfitzroy. Appears to have closed in about 1909, probably as part of licence reductions at that time thanks to strong temperance movements/slum improvement campaign.

Found a pic from c2000, seems that the #cementrender was later knocked off then leaving odd crumbly brickwork on show, but the lovely double arched timber framed windows were recreated (behind bars). It was an office, not sure now, but recent big extension.
