Northcote Theatre

Northcote Theatre, Melbs oldest intact picture house, built 1912; preserved as a function centre for decades. I got it on the #victorianheritageregister about 15 years ago. Now proposed for an upgrade to more like a nightclub- great the facade is to be restored, reopening the upper porch area, and I don’t mind the groovy new stair in the form of the long removed one, but inside I don’t see why the balcony needs a strange sticking out addition – the bar below is fine though. I just said all that to hv, though I’m two days late. And only just noticed the glass balustrade up the front for the rooftop bar, but I guess it’s not terrible. Also I hope they can remove the interior panelling blocking the windows.
