Ajax Insurance, cnr Queen and Little Collins, yet another of the 55 #midcentury office blocks up for #heritagelisting, and another fave of mine, even though it’s a bit retro for 1957. Designed by HD Berry, who didn’t go on to much it seems, but did well with this, which would have been very modern for 1941. Its got almost Deco vertical fins, in sets within a solid mass, but breaking through the cornice. Originally scored gridded render, now blockier (perhaps from a 1996 refurb), but in a nice pinky beige. And all opening #steelframedwindows ! Used to advantage in the offices of @rush.wright.associates on level 5 (thanks michael for the interior photos !).
