Didn’t know the back end of #HoweCrescent #SoutMelbourne had such fine big old #terracehouses. The finest one is Hazlewood Terrace, 1865 by #CharlesWebb. Quite ornate for the 1860s though, especially compared to the others here, presumably a bit later cos it was the first apparently. Real estate pics show plain inside, and not huge originally, all extended of course.

A rather abandoned looking house in Ferrars Place South Melbourne, which has the once common glasses in verandah, and a perilously leaning support (though probably not structural).
It’s just round the corner from the Restoration Australia two storey timber one I featured recently; they made the point that while there’s a lot of grand terraces in the area, like the three I snapped on Howe Crescent, there’s also much more modest places on the smaller streets.
There is in fact another of the rare two storey timber ones on Cecil Street, right across from the grand ones. It’s also been empty for a while but was recently sold, and looks in ok condition.
