If you think this Art Deco building on Flinders Street shouldn’t be demolished, have your voice heard !
Built in 1936 for Snow’s Department Store, there is a proposal before Council to completely demolish for a 13 storey 215 room hotel designed in contemporary style. We think it’s not only a good example of the widely admired Art Deco style, but is an essential element of the intact historic streetscape of this part of Flinders Street, which is part of the Flinders Gate heritage precinct.
To make a submission, send an email to planning@melbourne.vic.gov.au, quote the application number TP-2016-1046, the address, 244 Flinders Street, and tell them you don’t think it should be demolished. (and don’t forget to add you name address and contact details).
