A jaunt up to the #skyhighlookout #mountdandenong, to see the 1971 circular restaurant and viewing platforms by #JDaleFisher. I helped it get #heritagelisted in the 90s when #parksvictoria was aiming to let a developer in to replace it with some completely OTT touristy experience that no doubt would have been a costly failure.
There were loads of (mainly Indian and Asian) families up there even though it was a bit cold, and the haze meant you couldn’t see the city really.
I was a bit disappointed having never visited before – the circular forns don’t read well, and the timber and chunky precast conc elements ate at odds with the pure geometries.
